Peppered Berry Compote a la Mode

  • 1/2 tsp. black peppercorns
  • 1 bag (12 oz.) frozen mixed berries
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. raspberry liqueur, optional
  • 3 cups Breyers® Extra Creamy Vanilla
  • 6 strawberries, sliced, optional
  • 6 ice cream wafer cookies or your favorite sugar cookie, optional


  1. Crush pepper in mortar and pestle or place in a small resealable plastic bag and crush with a heavy skillet; set aside.
  2. Combine berries, sugar and liqueur (if using) in medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Continue to boil 2 minutes until berries are slightly softened. Remove from heat. Stir in crushed pepper. Makes about 1-1/2 cups.
  3. Scoop Breyers® Extra Creamy Vanilla into 6 dessert dishes. Pour 1/4 cup peppered berry compote into each dish. Garnish, if desired, with sliced strawberries and cookies.
