What Makes S’mores So Popular?

The first official recipe for a s’mores appeared in a 1927 Girl Scout guidebook called Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. It was listed under the name “Some More” (because after one, people tended to want "some more"), with a recipe designed to serve eight girls. Over the years, the name evolved to the catchy contraction “s’more” but exactly when that shift happened remains unclear.
